McGeorge law school appoints new dean

A new dean has been appointed at the McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento.

University of Pacific provost Maria Pallavicini announced that Francis “Jay” Mootz is the new dean of the law school in Oak Park. He will assume his new duties July 1.

Currently Mootz is a professor and associate dean at the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Mootz will replace Elizabeth Rindskopf Parker, who is retiring after 10 years at the law school.

“McGeorge has all the right building blocks in place, with its focus on strong lawyering skills, its location in one of the country’s most important state capitals, and its strong and committed faculty,” said Mootz.

Mootz, a graduate of Duke University School of Law, will lead a campus of more than 1,000 students. McGeorge has 52 full-time and 70 part-time faculty.
