Law Center Appoints New Associate Dean

Georgetown University Law Center professor Gregory Klass has been appointed associate dean for research and academic programs, succeeding professor Robin West.

West, the Frederick J. Haas professor of law and philosophy, had been serving in the position since July 1, 2008. She will be returning to the faculty of the Law Center.

Klass’ new role entails design of program curriculum and the monitoring of faculty research.

“Greg is an extraordinary scholar and teacher, and he is profoundly committed both to the value of academic scholarship and to the Law Center,” said Law Center Dean William Treanor in a press statement released today. “We are fortunate that he is taking on a new position that will allow him to help us strengthen Georgetown’s deep commitment to scholarship.”

Klass, the John Carroll Research professor at the Law Center, has focused on contracts and the philosophy of law in his personal research and the courses he has taught. Before coming to Georgetown, he served as an assistant solicitor general for the New York Attorney General and a clerk in 2nd Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals.
